Before joining the inorganic chemistry at faculty at UCLA in 2008, Duan was a Founding Scientist, Principal Scientist and Manager of Advanced Technology at Nanosys Inc. Duan serves as an Associate Editor for the journal Nano Research and has over 300 published articles and over 50 U.S. patents. His research focus materials innovation for future electronic and energy technologies. Duan’s recent forward-looking perspective on “Van der Waals integration before and beyond two-dimensional materials” was featured in Nature’s 150th anniversary special collection. His awards and honors include the 2020 MRS Mid-Career Researcher Award, 2018 Fellow of American Association for the Advancement of Science, 2018 Fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry, and 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers in Materials Science.
